5-(2-Bromoethyl)benzofuran is an impurity of Darifenacin (D193400), a drug that blocks the M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor and used to treat urinary incontinence. 5-(2-Bromoethyl)benzofuran can also be used to prepare 3,6-disubstituted azabicyclo[3.1.0]hexane derivatives as muscarinic receptor antagonists.
