3-(Trimethylsilyl)-1-propanol is a substrate used in speculating the reaction kinetics of horse liver alcohol dehydrogenase. 3-(Trimethylsilyl)-1-propanol is also used as a reagent in the synthesis of organosilanes with nitro and fluoro substituents.
